KPSC Safety Group Named Best Performing Safety Group in Ontario

Please join KPSC in congratulating thirty-eight (38) local businesses for their hard work and dedication to making safety a priority in their workplace.

These local businesses are sharing a group rebate of slightly over $189,000 awarded in recognition of their achievements in health and safety. KPSC awarded each of the companies an individual cheque of just over $4,900 at their rebate ceremony last week.

What is the Safety Groups Program?

The Safety Groups Program is an innovative initiative the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) implemented to help eliminate workplace injuries and illnesses in Ontario.  The program rewards firms that implement effective health and safety, and return to work measures into their daily work habits.

Members of the Safety Groups Program not only receive guidance in legislative requirements while assisting in reducing their firms WSIB premiums and potential claim costs, but as a member they are also improving the quality and efficiency of work, employee retention and morale, which in turn maintains a healthy and stable workforce.

The KPSC Safety Group is one of 33 Safety Groups in Ontario. In the 12 + years of our existence, our Safety Group has earned a rebate for our members every year and we have returned over 1.6 million dollars to our member firms. The group is mentored and administered by Wiebke K. Wilkens, the Owner and Principal Consultant of Wilkens Health and Safety Solutions, the corporate sponsor of KPSC.

As a result of the dedication the member firms put towards improving their health and safety practices and procedures, KPSC’s Safety Group was named the best performing Safety Group in Ontario in 2015. Elizabeth Witmer, the Chair of the WSIB specifically recognized Kingston: Partners for a Safe Community for its outstanding contribution as a Safety Group sponsor.
